How long is the education?
The Design education is a two-year, further education divided in 4 semesters. Number of teaching hours a week is 25 hours. The daily lessons are taught from 9.00 till 14.30 with a half hour lunch break. There are calculated 12 hours of homework a week beyond the normal class hours. There is an opportunity to work at the school outside the lessons by appointment.
The study-start of 1. and 3. semester is Monday, August 15th 2011.
The study year’s final school day is Friday June 29th 2011.
School is closed for week 42. Christmas holidays with the last day of class is Wednesday, December 21th and the first school day in 2012 is Monday, January 2nd. The school is closed throughout the Christmas holidays.
Easter holiday from Monday, April 2nd through Wednesday, April 4th.


How is teaching?
The education is a full-time education and includes project work, lectures, workshops, competitions, exercises, participation in reviews. One school year equals 60 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
A project period runs from 1 to 6 weeks. There are 14 to 16 projects in a school year.
Each project begins with an introduction and ends with a presentation to the teacher(s) and fellow students. The student will be evaluated both verbally and in writing. The student must submit a portfolio for each project and beyond the required product.
Through continuous assessment of projects and experiments throughout the education course, the student’s standpoint would be identified as the basis for subsequent individual follow-up and support.


Is the work individually or in groups?
The teaching varies between theory, individual and group work. The student must be able both to work independently and engage in cooperation.


Is it possible to get an internship?
Margrethe-Skolen are willing to help the students to establish contacts to enterprises and to organize the placement. The school sees it as a great advantage for students to gain experience and contacts with the industry, and therefore that they have built up a network when they go out and search for jobs.


Can I get a job when I graduate?
As in all other positions required willingness, ability and active efforts to get jobs. Throughout the education course, the school has regular contact with industry both through the associated professional teachers, who all are engaged in the business and the company-projects that are included in the lessons.
The work areas are large in the design world. As an employee of a design firm in retail operations, television, film and theater industry. As an independent entrepreneur or freelance designer. Some setting up in business together. Others use the education as a complement to stylist, education, etc.


What does it cost to study at Margrethe-Skolen?
Education fee amounts to DKK 144,000 – is due in installments as thefollowing rates:

  • 1st rate – June 1st……………….DKK 36,000, -
  • 2nd rate – November 1st……….DKK 36,000, -
  • 3rd rate – May 1st ……………… DKK 36,000, -
  • 4th rate – November 1st ……… DKK 36,000, -

Besides the education fee, there are estimated in start DKK 1500.00 to gine and div. materials. Afterwards DKK 300-500 per month, DKK 3,500.00 for the study-trip in the 2nd semester. The school requires that students from start own a computer.


Is the education SU justified?
Students can apply for SU under the applicable rules. The Design education is a further education. Besides SU as p.t. is DKK 5,486.00 for those ones who are living away from their parents and DKK 2,728.00 for those ones who lives at their parents, the student is entitled to an additional DKK 2,141.00 for private schools. What languages ​​are taught at Margrethe-Skolen?
Instruction is primarily in Danish, but English can occur.
The school has students from around the world and at some workshops and lectures we have visits by guest lecturers from abroad. The student must understand Danish.


How many students are at the school?
There are approx. 40 students of either sex divided into 4 semesters. Foreign students represent approx. one-quarter of school-students.

Many students have jobs beside the school. There are calculated 12 hours of homework a week beyond the normal class hours. At exam time, there may be extra homework, but it depends on your arrangement of work plans and working methods.
